Christmas Memories

Another has fallen
Shattered on the ground
All year they lay nestled
Wrapped snugly in boxes
We bring them out
Old familiar memories
On display for those we love
The lost and broken
Make way for the new

Winter Delight

Spinning, tumbling
On howling winds
Draping the city
In pure white
City lights sparkle
Reflecting each flake
Hypnotizing children
Igniting their imagination

Monday, November 26, 2007

Crows

The harvest has fallen
We glide on midnight wings
Devour the remnants
Spread our wings
We dance above
Haunting the dreams
Of those below

Pastel Dreams

She dreams in
Pastels her visions
Blurring, bleeding
into one another
Each night her
Memories fade on
Crumbling parchment

A Beginning

It is time to shed
The layers of selfishness
Generosity should
Not be punished
Care for everyone
Will not end the world

Hallow's Eve

The moon follows the living
Dressed in demonic array
Children dance and frolic

The spirits watch
Wishing they too
Could take part

Enter

I've tied my tongue
Shutter the window
To reality, enter
A dreamworld of bliss
Music my portal through

Sunday, October 28, 2007

The Raven

I see it there
Beneath the pebbles
A tiny speck
Reflecting the sun
Remove the pebbles
One by one
A gold ring
Held firmly fast
Back to my home
Place it on the pile
So many shiny baubles
Spark my desire
All mine

Weightless

Floating on the ocean
Water pressing against back
Skin baked beneath
Sun's relentless stare
Dark shadows
Circle below

Whales

Rise through the abyss
Break the surface
Breathe in slowly
Bask in sunlight
Leap toward the heavens
Dive down again
Into the darkest depths
Singing the song of eons

Broken Stairs

He sits on
The broken
Stairs staring
Into the
Horizon

Thursday, September 27, 2007

Clarity

Skim the surface
Filter any imperfections
Its clear crystalline perfection
Ever so tempting

Within its depths
Against its rocky bottom
Debris has settled
Bleeding it's toxins

Saturday, September 22, 2007

Decay

Decay begins
Quietly creeping
Unnoticed
Behind the walls
They seem so strong
Cracks begin to show
Stains spread out
Marring the perfect surface

Saturday, September 15, 2007

Broken

Hear you through the walls
So much screaming and stomping
There are cracks in your facade
See it now through all
Those empty hellos spoken
Passing through the hallway
Hate radiates within you
The love you've broken
Her sobs will haunt you
Though you are without a soul

Slumber

She lies beneath the willow branches
Watching fireflies flash their sacred code
Cicadas hum, her lids begin to close
The rich scent of earth, her last memory
She dreams of fairies, of knights, and dragons
Never wanting to wake to the dull world

My Wagon

Some only see a blue
Plastic shell
Green wheels and
Yellow handle
Worn and tattered, shedding
Faded stickers
He is so much more
We plow through frozen tundra
Unearth ruins in
My backyard, explore
Caverns and search
For buried treasure
My silent companion through
Our adventures

Our Journey

Lie against your skin
All warmth and
Thundering heartbeats
Remember when we
were young, all
Sex and hormones
Grand aspirations
Dreams still fresh
Now the lines creep in
Our path so different
Than we thought
Still we journey together

Untitled

Clues are here
For those who seek
Dreams still fresh
Soon to be forgotten
Close your eyes
I will whisper
the name across
the winds of
Imagination

Cinema

Light flows through the darkness
A scene begins
Shadows mingle, everything is hazy
Transparent and hard to grasp
Shifts to another scene
Of pain and heartache
Things long past
Almost forgotten
Flash to a new scene
Sunlight and laughter
Kisses stolen on a warm summer day
Turns again to another scene
Filled with screams
Evil lurking in the dark
Unseen, unknowing
It creeps closer

I open my eyes

Cabin Fever

Sunlight filters through
Swaying leaves
Fragrant florals
Infuse the air
Crisp warm grass
Beneath bare feet
New life in bloom
Fingers carving
Intricate circles
In the Sand

Daydreams

Pass the time
Shuffling thoughts
Through hollow head
Dreaming through
The day

Paper Boxes

Light has no place here
Blue again in my longing
Moments pass, stretching
Into eternity reaching
For yellow sunlight
For hope wrapped
In paper boxes
We trade screams
Like kisses

An Emptiness

Encompassing emptiness
Tumbling towers and
Crackling pages
A loss long forgotten
Numbing pain hidden
Within a smile
Fragile thoughts
Flutter within
And without
Seeking a blossom
Of wisdom
Carefully erased with
Gentle strokes

Seasons

Wind chimes sing softly
In the summer breeze
Ripples slink across the lake
Cattails drum against its shore

Leaves in their Autumn colors
Lightly cover the lake
Debris slowly settles

Ice encrusts its surface
Fish lay on its bottom
Sleeping through winter's chill

Trees bloom busily
Sprinkling petals across
Its swollen expanse

Ho Hum

I just want to hide today
Stay under the covers
Dream the world away
Drowning in responsibilities

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Ants

I examine them
Ever industrious
They gather
And Build
Speak their
Silent histories
In homes
Sheltered tight
Content with
All they have

The others
Only prosper
Through war
They line up
In endless ranks
Devouring all
In their path
Tear the flesh
With viscous
Mouths

Evolution

I watch the ticker
Scroll across the screen
It forms words
Of destruction
Man's souls seared
By hatred, Repeat
The same history
Base desires rule
Us still, awaiting
Our evolution

Snooze

No light yet
On horizon
Alarm chases
Away timeless
Dreams, soon
Forgotten
First to wake
To begin
Preparations
For the new day

Leaf

Withered and broken
I fall
Tumbling down
Carried by the wind
I touch the ground
I die
Only to be reborn again
With the coming of spring

Bound

Fear has held me fast
Bound my thoughts
And actions, now
Is the time to face
Them all, to begin
Again, to become
What I should be

Bitten Tongue

In silence
Unspoken words
Press between us
Imprisoning us
From our fear
To speak

My Loves

Give them all I have
Nothing held back
They are my hope
My life is theirs
Now I'm drained
Losing myself
A little more
Someday they'll
Appreciate the gift
I gave

Possession

I want to feel your breath
Taste it
With every touch
You are mine
Excruciating beauty
Every moment of your
Life is mine
I watch you move
Capture every moment

Change

Unified by dreams
From the past
Captured by emotions
Of this moment
Uncertain future
Fears consume us
Dreams discarded
Replaced by rationality
Stresses erode the mind
Purpose flutters away

Landslide

Slip a little farther
Dig my roots in
The soil is weak
Rain hastens my fall
Close my eyes
Weightless for a
Moment, tumbling
Embrace the freedom
The loss of control
Until I crash
Buried beneath
A mountain of debris

Sun Watchers

Morning's kiss
Leaves diamonds
Scattered across
A field of grass
Flowers waken
Their faces
Turn toward
The rising
Sun

Frozen

Numb lips ache
For warmth
Frigid fingers
Grasp your hand
Fiery fingers
Trace frozen curves
Radiating rapture
Envelops me

Sphere

Within it's center
Such splendor
Barely glimpsed
Beneath its surface

Silver Strands

Silver strands of knowledge
Shimmer through dreams
Tingle within a caress
Soar in aromatic bliss
Wither with each vice
Struggle against violent desire

Vacation

Lay across the burning sands
Listening to the siren call
Waiting for the waves to crash
Crying seagulls soar above
Calming the mind and body

Pharmacological Passion

Passion pills
We ingest
To feel again
Chemicals flush
Awakening the senses
No longer numb

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Untitled

We reach with withered fingers
Grasping every second
Still it slips through
Passing ever faster
Until we fade
Away

Fog

I gasp for breath
Yet still inhale
Your toxic fumes
Travel inside me
Universe within
An extension of
My darkest desires

The Return

Walk the empty streets
Calling your name
A hollow echo returns
Lost you somewhere
On this journey
Someday you'll return
To fill this emptiness

Tired

Empty days pass
Broken smiles bloom
Liquid motivation
Gets me through
Violet lips whisper
Lies we cling to
Truth we dare not speak

Mourning Bird

It's been so long since I've seen the stars
Poles illuminate throughout the night
Obscuring it's light
It's been so long since I've touched the earth
Landscaped shrines confine it's growth
Pavement beneath my sole
It's been so long since I've heard nature
Radio waves and hi-fi distort the sound
Even the birds sing it's passing

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Reach

Reach above
Touch the clouds
It's within your grasp
Enlightenment
Look through
Beyond you
Kindness will
Get you closer still
Deny the false
Prophets, man
Controls not
God's will

Modern Beauty

Transform this canvas
Poison injections
Silicone smile
Chisel and hammer
In hand
Flawless stitching
Remember, perfection
Does not come
Cheap

Acceptance

Watch your suffering everyday
Wish I could kiss away the pain
If I could lay hands on you
I would heal your disease
Hoped for so long it would disappear
I've accepted my helplessness
My role now, to comfort you

Insomnia

Whispers travel through the night
Eternal figures dance
Just beyond sight
Tormenting timeless sleep

Monday, August 27, 2007

Filter

Stained fingers grasp
A cigarette lace with lipstick
Cloudy eyes gaze through
Hazy window

The City

Sunlight struggles through
Hazy horizon
Skyscrapers lie jagged
Steady hum of machines
Screaming sirens
People pass by
Hurtle past in cars
Looking beyond
Glittering glass
Trapped within
Our innovation

Criticism

Bare my soul
Before the masses
Hope for understanding
They rip apart my words
Devour every syllable
Ingest the flesh of my thoughts
Only to say they are lacking

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Canopy

Love to walk beneath
Trees canopy above
Scattering sunlight
Illuminate the forest flowers
Soft crunch of decaying leaves
Rich scent of earth and plants
Lose myself in each step

Polaris

We evolve around you
Endlessly circling your light
Point the way toward discovery
Let us admire stardust creation
As we continue our orbit

Gaea

We err to be human
Split apart the atom
Defy the natural laws

Our mother has gone
Years have passed away
Yet the tumors remain
Fallout children cry
Decay in filth and ignorance
We have forgotten

Terrestrial sterility
This half-life suffering
Will split into infinity

The Goddess

Goddess am I
Creation is my
Plaything, you thought
You could hold my heart
That you would own me
I am a free spirit
Drifting where the winds
Of time take me
I am a slave to
Nothing and no one
A new creation
Will I bring
Stretched along
Eternity I shall
Lay in wait
Of this new day

Spring

Sky open and free
Breeze flutters through leaves
New life emerges
Death is swept away
Cushioned feet press
Against a bed of grass
Whispers of a new creation

Friday, August 24, 2007

Mindless

The phoenix has risen
Sleepers awaken
Ties to humanity severed
Twisted by the words of man
It's only path destruction
It's death hollow, meaningless

Rainbow

Mist captures
Prismatic light
An arch of hope
Spreads across
Stormy sky

The Journey

Again I look inside
Seeking things once had
Now lost in the storm
That rages through my soul
Too long left alone
The darkness has spread
Cutting off all growth
The struggle never ends
Enlightenment my desire
To be at peace
With the universe

Debate

Particles of thought collide
They ignite ideas
Forcing action
Causing reaction
Creating electric debate

Shadows

The shadows come out to play
Swinging through the trees
Dancing across the streets
Lurking in the closet
Haunting children's dreams

Memories

Sometimes forgotten
Names and faces blur
Events no longer concrete
Thoughts scatter
Words flutter
Just out of reach

Found

I walk among the stars
Gathering strands of light
Lightly I weave them
Into a path that leads
To you

Stranded in darkness
You wait
Tears stream down your face
How lost you have become
Do not worry little one

Quietly I walk
Across the radiant trail
To your side
And take your hand

Hush little one
All is well
Once again
We will dance
Among the stars

He Sleeps

So quiet
Your breath
The only sound
Such purity
I observe
Helpless and alone
Able to see every flaw
And every virtue
Oblivious to my pondering
My thoughts race on
Till I lay beside you
Warmed by your body
Sleep claims me

Snowflake

Tumbling gently
Complex in it's simplicity
Drifting and powerless
Wind blows cold
Touches the earth
Transforms and conforms
Molding to those around it
Sun grows warm
Slowly it melts away

Fear

Keep the curtains drawn tight
Hold the world at bay
Surrounded on all sides
By chaos and decay
Hidden from the broken
Their eyes hollow and dim

Sunday, August 19, 2007

Frozen Light

Sunrise glimpsed through
Half closed eyes
Drinking liquid inspiration
Cardinal sings sweetly
Dancing lightly across
The snow filled lawn

Saturday, August 18, 2007

Untitled

She used to be so confident
Had the whole world ahead
Now the years fly past
Her dreams are fading
On crumpled yellow paper

Blocked

Staring at a blank screen
Searching for inspiration
Thoughts fluttering out of reach

Not Forgotten

Crystal tears fall
Fractured face
Pain haunts
Lingering
Grasping paper heart
Opening old wounds
The refuse of guilt
Spilling forth

In silence
Unspoken words
Press between us
Imprisoning us
Given power
From our fear
To speak

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Press On

Surrounded on all sides
A wall of people, pressing
Blank faces staring forward
A tiny spot among the masses
Try to fight the tide
Weary feet begin to slide

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Guardian

The angel on my back
Pressed beneath flesh
Emerging from
Tattered shell
Reminds me
To renew hope

Monday, August 13, 2007

Content

Crumbling ancient beauty
Hidden behind green veil
Ancient spirits dance
Across her face

Her rumbling murmur
Cascades down her side
Tranquility emerges
In this place

What a Song May Be

1
Whispers echo through
Silence of a crowded room
Crisp drinks on every lip
We come together then move apart
The song controls us, moves us
2
Liquid hips and red lips
Magnetic eyes, never seeing
She moves through the world
Takes everything for granted
Men's desire
Pretty face, an empty shell
Never realizing her purpose
She does not care
3
Steady sound of
Feet meeting ground
Marching toward
Each other
Ourselves
Destroying everything
Build it up again

Follow

Create councils to oversee our day
Our thoughts are skewed
Protect us from ourselves
Dictate our dreams, our desires
Blind us with flashing screens
We'll follow the hollow lines
We won't see before it's too late

Saturday, August 11, 2007

Morning

Wipe sleep's seeds from weary eyes
Dreams still dance in foggy head
Waiting for coffee to vivify the day

Friday, August 10, 2007

Blue

His eyes so alluring
They draw me in
Crystalline sky
Lose myself in their depth
Ever closer, our lips meet
Close my eyes
All I see is blue

Snow Castles

Winter wind carries
Smoke signals from
Frigid lips
Sparkling, frozen landscape
Steady work
We dig and carry
Bucket after bucket
Careful of placement
Until we are content
With our snow castles

Thursday, August 9, 2007

Sing to me

Never too old for a lullaby
A song induces waking dreams
Sublime and serene
Our souls blossom
With each rythemic pulse

The Hunter

Hush now child
The wolf has come
Howling above the wind

Guard closely your words
It is the unspoken
That Haunts us

Their utterance
shatters
Love, hope, and dreams

Timid Flower

I will not bloom today
I care not for water
Or the light that feeds
I'll remain entombed
None can see the beauty within
They wouldn't appreciate it anyway

Another Untitled

Cry out across oblivion
Tears tumble
Glistening like stars
Hatred remains
Negating the good

Humanity breeds
Then self destructs
Taking with it beauty
Leaving only pain
Suffering, blood, and sorrow
Still we have not learned

Afraid to look inside
To see what we truly are
Embrace both good and bad
To find peace and unity
Instead we stumble
Falter on the brink
Of perfection

Dear Author

Thank you word weaver
For transporting me to other times
Other worlds. Your visions
Follow me in slumber
I'll remember always
The characters created
with your deft pen

A New Day

We wait for the new dawn
For new colors to illuminate
The sparse canvas of night
To begin again, to hope once more

Untitled

Look now in the garden
Straight lines
In perfect symmetry
Now time to sow
The seeds of chaos

Circles

Secrets of the universe
Compressed on her face
Mechanized fairies take flight
The closer to answers
Only more questions remain
Our ancestors gazed
Upon this same sight
We are watching, and waiting

The Highway

Flashing blur of lights
An endless stream of words
(click, click)
Everything you never wanted
To know
To see
(click, click)
A place to be
Anything, anyone
without consequence

Water Lilly

I try to dig into the earth but
The current is too strong
Permanence is not my friend
There is life below, I can
Feel it's subtle ripples
Warm rays caress my flesh
Focusing my sight toward
The heavens
The change comes slowly
I open myself

Stress

I've discovered stress is much like the ocean. It ebbs and it flows but it never recedes. Unfortunately lately I've had a typhoon level of stress. Right now I'm holding onto a lifesaver, hoping not to get pulled under. Maybe one day I can learn to enjoy the ride through the waves but for now, I'm just trying to survive.
