The moon follows the living

Children dance and frolic


The spirits watch
Wishing they too

I see it there
Beneath the pebbles
A tiny speck
Reflecting the sun
Remove the pebbles

A gold ring
Held firmly fast
Back to my home
Place it on the pile
So many shiny baubles
Spark my desire
All mine

Weightless

Floating on the ocean
Water pressing against back
Skin baked beneath
Sun's relentless stare
Dark shadows
Circle below

Whales

Rise through the abyss
Break the surface
Breathe in slowly
Bask in sunlight
Leap toward the heavens
Dive down again
Into the darkest depths
Singing the song of eons
